2022 GMC Terrain

The 2022 GMC Terrain is a sophisticated SUV that will keep you and your family riding in comfort. Its upscale interior features modern technology and well-placed controls. This year, the Terrain adds a new AT4 off-road trim, while all trims feature revised exterior styling.
There are four trim levels available: SLE, SLT, AT4, and Denali.
GMC Terrain SLE and SLT
The 2022 GMC Terrain SLE and SLT come standard with a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine rated at 170 horsepower and 203 lb-ft of torque. This is paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. This combination delivers an EPA-estimated 25 mpg city and 30 mpg highway.[1] All-wheel drive is available as an option.
With the SLE model, it comes standard with a 7-inch touch screen that features the latest GMC Infotainment system along with wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™. You can also connect up to 7 devices with the available built-in Wi-Fi® hotspot.
Standard features on the SLE trim also include LED exterior lighting, heated mirrors, push-button ignition, and a six-speaker sound system.
The SLE and SLT trim both come standard with GMC Pro Safety. This includes Automatic Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Alert, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, Front Pedestrian Braking, Intellibeam® automatic high beams, and a Following Distance Indicator.
Stepping up to the SLT trim adds more upscale features. These include:
- 8-inch touch screen
- Hands-free liftgate
- Leather upholstery
- Leather-wrapped, heated steering wheel
- Roof rails
- Dual-zone automatic climate control,
- A driver’s seat with memory functions
- Remote engine start
- A household-style power outlet
- High-definition rearview camera
No matter which trim level you choose, the 2022 GMC Terrain comes with a spacious, comfortable interior for up to five passengers. When you need to carry cargo instead of people, the rear seats and the front passenger seat all fold flat so you can carry items up to 8 feet long. This gives you 63.3 cubic feet of cargo space to work with. With all the seats in place, the Terrain still offers a roomy cargo area with 29.6 cubic feet behind the second row.
If you are looking for a unique look for your GMC Terrain, consider the Elevation Edition, available on the SLE and SLT trims. It gives the Terrain a blacked-out look with black roof rails, black exterior accents, 19-inch black painted wheels, and a darkened front grille.
GMC Terrain AT4
New for the Terrain this year is the AT4 trim. This trim is designed to take you on new adventures. It comes standard with off-road-ready features including Sport Terrain tires, an underbody skid plate, and all-wheel drive. The Terrain AT4 also comes with a Traction Select System. This includes three modes:
- FWD: Choose this mode to optimize your fuel economy for normal driving conditions. It mechanically disengages the rear axle to eliminate drag.
- AWD: This mode is ideal for more difficult driving conditions like snowy, wet, or icy roads. You can also it on dry roads if you want to optimize your traction.
- Off-road: When your travels take you off the pavement, choose the off-road model. It adjusts the AWD system to improve driving dynamics and stability on sand, gravel, or dirt.
In addition to its strong capabilities, the 2022 GMC Terrain AT4 also comes with exclusive styling. It has a unique AT4 grille with AT4 badging. The Gloss Black roof rails and Black chrome exterior accents complete the look.
The AT4 comes similarly equipped as the SLT trim with features like leather upholstery, an 8-way power driver’s seat, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.
GMC Terrain Denali
If you are looking for the most luxurious features in your Terrain, the Denali model is the absolute best choice. It gets a lot of upgrades over the other trim levels. Like the AT4, it comes standard with all-wheel drive. It also features a Premium Suspension system with Enhanced Shock Control. This delivers a smooth, comfortable, and quiet ride even on rough, bumpy roads.
The Terrain Denali has a unique exterior look that features exclusive chrome details, a multidimensional Denali grille, and power-adjustable mirrors with built-in LED turn-signal indicators. Like other trim levels, the mirrors are also heated.
Inside, the GMC Terrain Denali steps up the luxury with decorative French stitching on the leather-appointed front seats. Second-row passengers will appreciate the heated functionality in the outboard seats. The driver also gets to keep their hands warm with the heated, leather-wrapped steering wheel. Real aluminum accents throughout the cabin give the Denali an upscale look and feel.
The 8-inch driver information center lets you customize what information you want to see while driving, whether that is safety information, engine performance, or any other vehicle systems.
With additional standard safety features, the 2022 GMC Terrain Denali can help you feel even more secure on the road. It comes with nine safety features in the GMC Pro Safety Plus package. In addition to the features in the GMC Pro Safety suite, it adds:
- Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert
- Rear Cross Traffic Alert
- Rear Park Assist
- Safety Alert seat that vibrates when a safety warning is triggered
You can also see navigation directions and safety alerts with the standard Head-Up Display in the Denali. Additional safety add-ons include a 360-degree High Definition Surround Vision camera system and adaptive cruise control.
The Denali upgrades the infotainment system with built-in navigation. The standard wireless charging pad makes it easy to keep your compatible smartphone powered up. Simply place it in the slot and it will automatically start charging.
You can upgrade the Denali even more with the available front ventilated seats and power sunroof.
