Day 4: Arizona to Nevada

Had a slower start today in an attempt to catch up on some rest. The Route 66 Museum near our hotel opened at nine so we had some time to sleep. After the museum we traveled north to the Hoover Dam. After a quick security check we were able to drive right across the dam. I didn’t think they let you do that any more. The view of the water is something pictures can’t do justice. Especially when you’re a good 150 ft. up.
After Hoover, it was time to hit the highway once again. So we got on the interstate and headed towards the hottest place in the world: Death Valley. We started out in Furnace creek and quickly made our way south towards Badwater Basin. With how light the sand was it nearly looked like a dry beach. After Badwater we backtracked to Artist’s Palette. The colors and the intricate pathways in the rocks truly earn it’s name. After a few hours of very steamy sightseeing we made our way out of Death Valley and across most of Nevada towards Utah, where we stayed in a Tiny House just outside Zion. The drive up was almost as breathtaking as the sights we saw earlier that day. The banding on the rocks as we drove through the cliffs was breathtaking. When we arrived at the Tiny House, we both promptly passed out in our respective lofts, although the entrance was less than graceful.
Started really embracing the built in google features. I have been an Apple Carplay fan since it came out. But the google map display on that huge 11.3 Ince screen is outstanding. We also used the wifi hotspot to connect our computers. I also really like the overloading display that shows your elevation and a compass, and you can also display your tire pressures. Love it.
