Avg. Fuel Econ. 20.5 mpg

Left Indiana at 4:50 am arrived in Albuquerque by 10:30 pm. Our longest day yet. We got off the highway in Missouri and traveled on Route 66 from Missouri through Kansas and into Oklahoma for about an hour to enjoy the historic landmarks and scenery. Saw some great tributes to the movie Cars in Kansas including Mater and the friendly fire truck. We made a quick pit stop at Cadillac Ranch in Amarillo TX, and got some more mileage on Route 66 there, too. Trying to get a little off highway time in each state that it runs through while also fighting the clock to make it to the next destination before we pass out. So far we’ve been trying to ride the balance of efficiency while not sacrificing what we can experience on the road.

One feature on the truck that truly made this 18 hour drive better is adaptive cruise control. For those long stretches of highway (e.g, 748 and 346…) it gives the legs a break from the constant pressure on the gas pedal, which my daughter particularly enjoyed as she is still recovering from ankle surgery on her driving foot. It also helps to regulate pace and prevent erratic changes in speed throughout the day, which we both noticed made our gas stretch farther. Adaptive cruise control also helps with slight guiding to help keep from drifting too far in lanes.
